    • Students and administration stand under the newly named ASU-Newport Street sign located across from Lockwood Park on Malcolm Avenue at the Farmers Market.  The sign, which will be up for one year, was purchased as an auction item donated by the City of Newport at the Annual Chamber Banquet.  It was purchased by ASUN to commemorate their 10 years of being a stand alone campus.  Pictured are (Left to right) ASUN students Charm McClendon and Zain Chauhan; Dr. Sandra Massey, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Ike Wheeler, Division Chair; Dr. Larry Williams, Chancellor; Dr. Allen Mooneyhan, Division Chair; Adam Adair, Vice Chancellor for Fiscal Affairs; and Bentley Wallace, Director of Business and Transportation Technology.

    • Vinita Schwab celebrated her 103 birthday Saturday, April 14 with a lovely party given to her by the residents of Oakdale Assisted Living in Newport.  Her daughter and son-in-law is Sandy and Jerry Saracini.
    • Tuckerman High School’s Debbie Skaggs (Front row, left) and Tuckerman Elementary School’s Sally Allen (front row, right) display the grant checks the Jackson County School District received recently as part of the 2012 Child Wellness Intervention Project Grant program.  The district, including the Swifton Middle School, received more than $35,000 to fight childhood obesity in its student population.
