  • Coach Debbie Skaggs knew the importance of the final two weeks of the regular season when her 2012 softball schedule was released.
Sitting on her schedule in the final two weeks was a home-and-home series with the Rivercrest Lady Colts and star pitcher Micalah Beall with the conference race resting in the balance.
Beall tipped the balance of power in the conference race as she tossed a no-hitter at the Lady Bulldogs allowing only one Tuckerman baserunner - a two-out walk to Sara Shipman in the first inning - as the Lady Colts came away with a 4-0 victory in 2-3A play.
Beall fanned six while walking only one for Rivercrest while Shipman suffered the loss inside the circle for Tuckerman as she allowed four runs while scattering nine hits and struck out four.  She also walked only one batter.
The first five Rivercrest batters reached base in the first inning - scoring twice - before Shipman struck out two to get out of the frame and strand the bases loaded, which became a theme for the day as the Lady Colts stranded 10 runners in the game.  Shipman left seven of those runners in scoring position to keep the Lady Bulldogs in the contest.
In addition to her first inning, bases loaded escape, Shipman stranded runners at second and third in the fourth with only one out, left two on in the fifth, a runner at third with only one out in the sixth and a runner at second with two outs in the seventh.
Rivercrest added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the final margin.
