  • Add to your child’s summer with adventure by attending the Civil War Day Camp.  The camp is June 27th, 28th, and 29th from 9 am to 12 pm at the park pavilion.
Kids from age 7 to 12 years will have fun exploring history through games, activities and crafts.  Become a Civil War soldier or a sister of a soldier and make your own battle flag. Design a t-shirt for day camp to take home. Play Civil War softball and make your own berry ink and write with a feather quill pen are just some of the activities at camp. Drill with your friends and dress up as a Civil War soldier or a lady. The ladies in Jacksonport during the Civil War learned to drill and shoot rifles to defend their home.  We will play with wood toys similar to the toys children played with during the war.  It is a camp for boys and girls.
The fee for day camp is $15.00 per child, which includes the camp T-shirt.  The fee is used to help pay the cost of materials used in the activities.  All campers will meet at the pavilion.
Children’s groups, Day Care Centers and Summer Schools children are encouraged to participate in this camp.  Don’t let your kids miss out on a summer adventure at Jacksonport State Park.  For more information and registration, please Contact the Park Interpreter at the Park Office at (870) 523-2143 or 205 Avenue Street, Newport, AR  72112.  E-mail: Donna.bentley@arkansas.gov
