She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro and worked 18 years for Darling in Paragould. Her hobbies included playing music, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hooten was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Hartsell; and two sisters, Lola Morgan and Laverne Warren.
LaWanda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry Hooten; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Krystal Hooten; and two daughters, Brandi and Chassity Hooten, all of Paragould; sisters and bothers-in-law, Lavon and Jim Pierce of Corning and Loretta and Bobby Hardin of Neelyville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Max, Sam and Braxton Hooten; and one aunt, Anga Henderson of Tuckerman.
Mrs. Hooten's funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Phillips Funeral Home with Priest Mark Abban and Minister Tim Burgess officiating. Burial followed at Greene County Memorial Gardens. The family received guests Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Jim Pierce, Bobby Hardin, Fordy Hooten, Charles Partlow, Robert Hovis, and James Cossey. Honorary Pallbearers were Mark Woodruff, Don Hutchinson, Wayne Carr, Clinton Eudy and Steve Floyd.
