He was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Alicia, the son of Oscar and Elsie (Goza) Riley, and later the stepson of Ida (Miller) Riley.
Mr. Riley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Frank A. Rogers Co. for 47 years as a sales representative, which suited perfectly his love of people and easy, outgoing nature. Mr. Riley was a longtime member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ, and the Kiwanis Club of Newport. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother; four brothers, J.C., Silas, Edward "Peck," and Larry Riley; and two sisters, Ruby Dean and Imogene Milligan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty (Thompson) Riley; his children, Deborah Riley of Rosie, Dr. Richard Riley and wife, Melanie, of Little Rock, Sandra Riley of Tuckerman, Carol Milligan Eudy of Florida, Christina Kaye Riley, and Wayne Milligan and wife, Kathy, of Cabot. Mr. Riley will also be greatly missed by eight grandchildren, April Grady Saenz and husband, Dan, Luke Grady, Michael Eudy, Jason Eudy, Ellis Milligan, Christy Riley, Zack Riley, and Ben Riley; three great-grandchildren, Will Grady, Scarlett Saenz, and Caitlyn Eudy; four brothers, Charles, Bo, Don, and Doyle Riley, all of Tuckerman; one sister, Hilda Bradley of Tuckerman; and his best friend, Skeeter Grady of Newport.
Friends visited at the funeral home, Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at the Holden Avenue Church of Christ with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Keith Riley, Ron Riley, Perry Riley, Greg Riley, Alvin Riley, and Michael Riley.
