Mrs. Melba Lee Jackson, 85, of Newport, departed this life Monday, Aug. 20, 2012.
She was born April 10, 1927 to Charlie and Chloe (Tadlock) Walls and was a member of the Newport Pentecostal Church of God. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Jackson; one daughter, Opal Willard; her parents; two brothers, Charles Walls and Roy Walls; and one sister, Della Everett. Her survivors are four sons, Dale Jackson of Newport, Clyde "John" Jackson (June) of Newport, David "Mack" Jackson, and Mark Jackson (Carol) of Newport; two daughters, Evelyn Powell (Johnny) of Auvergne, and Ruby Carter (Lanny) of Village; one son-in-law, Henry Willard of Newport; one brother, Glynnis Walls of Newport; one sister, Dalene Robinson; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Watson Cemetery. Vistitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012.
