Mrs. Sandra Clark Sitzer, lifelong resident of Weiner, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Jonesboro at the age of 61.
Mrs. Sandra Clark Sitzer, lifelong resident of Weiner, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Jonesboro at the age of 61. She was born Aug. 15, 1951, the daughter of Acel Floyd, Sr. and Gwendolyn (Anschultz) Clark. Sandra was a 1969 graduate of Weiner High School and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1972 with a B.S. in nursing. She married Mr. Billy Jerome Sitzer Nov. 23, 1973. Sandra worked as a Registered Nurse at Newport Hospital, NEA Baptist Hospital, St. Bernards Hospital, and for the last five years worked at Home I.V. covering hospice care from Conway to Southern Missouri. Her career as a nurse lasted over 40 years. As a nurse she was beloved by her patients, fellow nurses, the doctors and all the support staff for her fun loving, genuine and caring ways. To know Sandra (Clark) Sitzer was to love her, she gave so much of herself to so many family, friends, and patients for so long. You never had to worry about what was on her mind, because she freely shared her thoughts. No matter the circumstance, because of her quick wit and candor, Sandra always left whomever she encountered with a smile on their face. Her sweet spirit will be always remembered and forever missed. Family was the cornerstone of her life, her siblings were her closest friends, and her children and grandchildren her greatest joy. Sandra was a member of the Weiner United Methodist Church. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Billy Jerome Sitzer on July 13, 2012; one son, Barrett John Sitzer on Dec. 6, 2004; her father, Acel Clark, Sr. on Sept. 30, 2011; her brother, Acel Floyd Clark, Jr.; a niece Mindy Lee Walker; and her father-in-law, Ralph Sitzer. Sandra is survived by one son, Byron Sitzer of Weiner; her mother, Gwen (Anschultz) Clark of Weiner; a daughter-in-law, Teresa (Spurlock) Sitzer-Cooper and husband, Stuart, of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Joseph Sitzer, Briar Sitzer, Amelia Sitzer, and Lance Cooper; four siblings, Patricia Nelson of Searcy, Joyce Ann Clark of Bradford, Winnie Walker of Weiner, and Stephen “Boo” Clark of Weiner; her mother-in-law, Lila Lee (Lynn) Sitzer of Weiner; honorary grandchildren, Shaw, Brooks, Jojo, Diggs, and Brae Faulkner, Jordan Evins, Anna Dale Madden, Cory Reynolds, and Charlee Evins. Friends visited at the funeral home, Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Clark Cemetery at Uno.
