He was born Dec. 21, 1932 in Calico Rock, the son of Ned Edward and Lois Pearl (Foster) Stapleton. He married Miss Wanda Faye Thompson Feb. 19, 1949.
Mr. Stapleton was self-employed in land clearing, construction and farm work. He was a hard worker, who enjoyed watching CNN and politics. He especially loved spending time with his family and delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stapleton was preceded in death by three brothers, Hayden Stapleton, Dick Stapleton, and Cotton Stapleton; two sisters, Moblee Shirley and Wilma Bridgeman; one son-in-law, Steve Jones; a great-granddaughter, Isabel Stonecipher; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Faye (Thompson) Stapleton; his children, Joan Kremers and husband, Ed, of Jonesboro, Larry Stapleton and wife, Ann, of Tuckerman, Phyllis Hale and husband, Barry, of Norfolk, Neb., and Doug Stapleton and wife, Charlene, of Tuckerman; his grandchildren, Hollie Stonecipher and husband, Jerrod, Keith Babbs, Kristen Davis and husband, Brian, Lindsay Jones, Arron Stapleton, and Brian Stapleton and wife, Brandi; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah Nutall, Addison Stonecipher, Maggie Stonecipher, Ryan Babbs, and Alyssa Babbs.
Friends visited at the funeral home, Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Stapleton, Doug Stapleton, Ed Kremers, Barry Hale, Brian Stapleton, Jonn Bridgeman, Jerrod Stonecipher, Johnny Gibson, Gay Lacy III, and Joey Lowery.
