  • Try your hand at campfire cooking in your own backyard or camping in a state park.
At Jacksonport State Park, they are planning a workshop dealing with campfire cooking Saturday, Oct. 6.
At the workshop, we demonstrate the proper way to build a good cooking fire. You and your family or friends cook delicious outdoor recipes such as Pig in a Blanket, Pizza, Cherry and Chocolate Moon Pies, Snail on a Limb and S’mores. The workshop is a great activity for kids.
The workshop begins at 11 a.m. and lasts for two hours.  The fee is $5 per person.  We will meet in the campground at site #1.  Reservations need to be made no later than three days in advance.
For reservations or more information please contact the park interpreter at: Jacksonport State Park, 205 Avenue Street, Newport, AR, 72112, and phone: (870) 523-2143 or email: jacksonport@arkansas.com.
