CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children will be introduced at a booth in Newport Saturday, Sept. 29 during the annual Depot Days.

CASA Advocates are the voice in court for foster children who have been abused or neglected. Advocates (after much investigating) make recommendations to the judge in the best interest of the children in assigned cases. The advocates seek to find the best, safe, permanent home for the children. There are currently eight volunteers from Newport who have recently been trained and sworn in to begin work in the Third Judicial District. Everyone is invited to come by their booth to meet the new advocates and learn more about the program. Since they are a non-profit, self-sufficient group, they will be selling Rada Cutlery (the best for the price), baked goods, lots of popcorn and water at their booth. "Please come by our booth to meet us and help with our great cause."
