  • Community Health and Resource Fair to be held at ASUN-Marked Tree

  • The Marked Tree campus of Arkansas State University-Newport will host a Community Resource and Health Fair Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

  • St. Bernards Healthcare will be on campus to provide free healthcare screenings to those attending the fair and the St. Bernards Healthcare Women’s Health Unit will be providing mammograms. The American Red Cross will also conduct a blood drive, and the Arkansas Mobile Work Force Center will be available from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Arkansas Mobile Work Force Center will provide resume assistance and allow dislocated workers to sign up for Arkansas Job Link and take the Career Readiness Certificate Assessment. Additional healthcare vendors and government agencies scheduled to attend the Community Resource and Health Fair include the Poinsett County Health Unit, Iberia Bank, Unico Bank, Mary Ann Arnold Head Start, S&S Spa, H&R Block, Absolute Care, Ark. Dept. of Human Services, ASUN Career Pathways and Mid-South Transplant. Women wishing to have a mammogram are asked to pre-register by Oct. 5 by calling Mary Houchin at 870-358-8612. Mammograms will be billed to the patient’s insurance and grant funding is available to women without insurance. Free bone density exams will also be available to mammogram participants. The ASUN-Marked Tree campus is located at 33500 Hwy. 63 E. in Marked Tree.
