She was born July 9, 1929 in Newport, the daughter of O.E. and Delta Mae (Fortner) Chatman.
Mrs. Johnson was a retired nurse's aid, having worked at GP&W Nursing Home. She was a member of the Grace Freewill Baptist Church, and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Loman Johnson; her parents; her step-father, S.L. Manuel; two brothers, Harold Chatman and Cletus Manuel; and one sister, Pauline Rogers.
She is survived by three sons, Loman Boyce Johnson of Tuckerman, Ralph Johnson of Brazil, and Rickey Johnson of Moore, Okla.; four daughters, Donna Diane Burt of Mayflower, Kathy Laverne Baker of Conway, Sharon Lynn West of Conway, and Pamela Kay Presley of Mayflower; one brother, Thomas Lane “Butch” Manuel of Ravenden Springs; three sisters, Raye Tubbs of Grubbs, Lois Carrick of Newport, and Phyllis Rudd of Newport; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Sullivan officiating. Interment followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends visited at the funeral home, Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Randy Burt, Dennis Johnson, Barry Hendrix, Ralph Johnson, Jr, Cheyenne Hendrix, Jerry Dale Johnson, and Aaron Johnson.
