Arkansas State University-Newport announced Tuesday that Jody Cason has joined ASUN’s staff as an Administrative Specialist in the Financial Aid department.

Cason is a familiar face at ASUN, having worked at the University for just over seven years in a part-time capacity.   A native of Tuckerman, she began her career at ASU-Newport as a student worker in the library, then worked as an Assistant Library Technician.
A student success story at ASU-Newport, Cason earned her GED from ASUN before earning her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, also at ASU-Newport.  She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from ASU-Jonesboro in Communication Studies, with a minor in Sociology.  She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Sociology, and plans to pursue her Doctorate.
“Education is very important,” said Cason.  “You may not realize it when you are a child, but you do when you are an adult.  ASU-Newport is my family.  It is a great opportunity, but I feel like it is more of a family since I have been here since 2003 when I got my GED.  I know everyone and it is just like being at home.”
“We are thrilled to have Jody as a member of our full-time staff at ASU-Newport,” said Deana Tims, Director of Financial Aid.  “She has been a familiar face on campus for many years, and she will certainly be an asset to both our students and our staff here in the Financial Aid department.”
