After achieving their fiscal year 2012 program goals, the Arkansas State University-Newport Career Pathways Initiative was presented with a plaque representing a check in the amount of $32, 768.28 at this year’s 2012 Career Pathways State Luncheon.
The luncheon was held Oct. 16 at the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges annual conference at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
The Performance-Based Student Support Funds award is a reflection of the strategies and activities that the ASUN Career Pathways staff adds to the University’s three campuses, and is based on institutional performance on annual goals.
The Arkansas Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) is a comprehensive program that enables local two-year colleges to offer those who qualify career training and college courses. The Initiative emphasizes program components, such as job readiness skills, basic academic skills preparation, remediation, and post-secondary credentials that lead to high wage, high demand occupations.
CPI fosters strong connections among two-year colleges, students, community-based organizations, state agencies, and employers. The primary purpose of the initiative is to address the "education gap" as a vehicle through which the "economic gap" can be closed.
