The Arkansas Health Care Foundation (AHCF) is pleased to announce Lou Ann Haigwood, LPN at Lindley Health & Rehab Center in Newport as a Finalist for the 2012 Nurse of the Year.
The finalist award was presented on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 during the AHCF Annual Caregiver Award Gala held during the Arkansas Health Care Association Annual Fall Conference and Business Meeting at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Arkansas Health Care Foundation Nurse of the Year Award was created to recognize outstanding Direct Care Licensed Nurses working in long term care facilities. Emphasis is placed on recognizing those who are compassionate, caring and innovative in dealing with residents, families and peers in the delivery of care in the long term care setting. Those honored have shown a dedication to continued professional growth and development in the long term care field.
Lou Ann Haigwood, LPN has been a nurse with Lindley Health and Rehab Center for over ten years and during that time has served as a floor nurse and a treatment nurse. She is an excellent and professional nurse, always kind and considerate to the residents, their families and her co-workers. She genuinely cares about the residents and the facility and goes above and beyond in every situation. Lou Ann is often a preceptor tor newly hired nurses because of her diligence, compassion, patience and knowledge. By choice, she works seven days a week almost every week to ensure that the residents are taken care of to her standards. She is always willing to assist other departments within the facility and takes every opportunity to increase her geriatric and nursing knowledge, knowing that it will increase the quality of care for the residents at Lindley Health & Rehab. Ms. Haigwood was voted Jackson County Nurse of the year in 2011 by the community and is also involved in local charitable organizations including Relay for Life, Healthy Women and the March of Dimes.
