  • He was a cancer survivor and had been cancer free for almost two years.  He was so proud that he was able to live at home and be independent.
On Nov. 17, he celebrated his 80th birthday with his immediate family and church friends, George Franklin and David Herminghunsen.  On November 18, he was able to drive himself to North Arkansas to visit with extended family, see God’s beautiful fall colors, and visit his wife’s grave one last time.  On his final day, he ran errands, mowed his own lawn, spoke to family and friends, put his 4-legged best friends in their kennels, and went to sleep on this earth for the last time.
He loved God, his church, family, friends, traveling and telling stories especially about his time in the military. He retired at Barksdale Air Force Base after proudly serving 20 years in the military.  Over the past few years he enjoyed spending more time with his children, grand and great-grandchildren, and helping with Angel’s puppy rescue.
Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Genevieve (Montgomery) Williamson; his parents, Roy and Lula (Plaster) Williamson; and one sister, Mattie Lou (Williamson) Newkirk.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Kenneth Williamson and wife, Kathy, of Shreveport, La., and Marcus Dean Williamson of Bossier City, La.; one daughter, Angel (Williamson) Alexander and husband, Scott Harlan, of Bossier City, La.; brothers-in-law, H.L. Montgomery and wife, Linda, of Grubbs, and Bobby Montgomery and wife, Denise of England; one sister-in-law, Sue Montgomery Wise of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Laura, Ben, and Brian Williamson, Rebecca Williamson-LaGrange, and Marc Williamson, and Grant and Genevieve Alexander; and four great-grandchildren, Karlie, Katie, Caleb, and Caden LaGrange.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel with his cousin, Mr. Wesley Kent officiating and Mrs. Judy Kent presenting music.  Interment followed Gracelawn Cemetery.  Friends visited at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from 5-7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Scott Alexander, Grant Alexander, Steve Montgomery, Marc Williamson, Bobby Montgomery, and H.L. Montgomery.  Honorary Pallbearers were Ben Williamson, Brian Williamson, George Franklin, David Herminghunsen, and Charles Cupit.
A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at Barksdale Baptist Church in Bossier City, La. with Bro. Calvin Hubbard officiating.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Dan Moller, Dr. Tommy Mook, the members of Barksdale Baptist Church, his housekeeper and friend, Dianne Dawson, and his neighbors for their acts of kindness and years of dedicated care.
