After dropping the first three games of the season the Newport Greyhounds posted their second straight victory topping Batesville 41-35 Friday night at Greyhound Fieldhouse.

"We're just now starting gel," Coach Leighton McCrary said. "Defensively I was pleased, there's still a lot of stuff we need to do, but we've won two in a row and let's hope we can build on that. " Newport led only 21-18 heading into intermission before the Hounds outscored Batesville 20-17 in the game's second half to pull away for the win. Kristen Crite led the hounds with 11 points while Marquelle Killingworth added 7. Markus Neal and Lorenzo Ollison chipped in 6 a piece, Khairan Stafford had 5, Asante Shell added 4 and Robert Robinson rounded out the scoring with 2.
