He was born October 4, 1934 at Newport, the son of Ward and Hattie (Brown) Taylor. He married Miss Marcia Mae Pridmore on February 27, 1953.
Mr. Taylor worked at Arkansas Steel, and had been a meat cutter at Kelly’s Big Star. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was active on the Grounds Committee, Communion Supper Committee, Prison Ministry, and was Secretary of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Mr. Taylor was a United States Navy veteran, 3rd Class petty officer, and served on a mine sweeper ship during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, fishing, woodworking, and especially spending time with his family.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, L.B. and Jerry Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marcia Mae Pridmore Taylor; two daughters, Teresa Burton and husband Steve of Little Rock, and Karen Malone and husband Clay of Newport; four grandchildren, Richard Burton and wife Brooke, Jason Burton and wife Amy, Rachael Burton and husband Scott, and Zach Malone; nine great-grandchildren, Haydn, Davis, Ean, Aven, Hannah, Livian, Cade, Noah, and Zari; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday evening, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jason Burton, Richard Burton, Steve Burton, Clay Malone, Zach Malone, and Scott Sargent. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Stobaugh, Sonny Stowe, Pete Long, Jim Montgomery, Joe Harris, Jerry Knopp, Freddy Fisher, Dennis Hayden, David Nicholson, and George Marchand.
