He was born Samuel Lewis Jackson Jones on January 23, 1941, in Surrounded Hill the son of Abe and Irene (Lewellen) Jones.

His interest in farming never wavered, even when he was unable to be out in the fields, he was reading about farming or giving farming advice and orders. Lewis has grown everything from cotton and corn to milo, rice, and peas. He volunteered his time serving on numerous boards benefiting the farmers and farming community.
Mr. Lewis Jones married Miss Mary Lee Stewart on Christmas Eve, 1959. Together they made their home, loved and cared for their family, and cherished many friendships over the last 53 years.
Lewis Jones was a Christian, which was evidenced by the way he lived his life. He will always be remembered for his kindhearted and generous spirit, his limitless patience, strong work ethic, and the influence he had on the young and old alike.
