I recently went to see a movie with a friend. It was in the middle of the day and the movie had been out for a while, so I wasn't surprised to walk into an almost empty theater. The screen had started showing opening timekillers, but the previews had not yet started. As soon as the two of us walked into the dark room, a woman directly to our left half yelled, half growled "you better find your seats and find them NOW!" I jumped and made a mad grab for the popcorn bucket I nearly threw. Going on 30, it's been a little while since anyone talked to me that way. I looked at the woman and realized she was looking ahead, where I saw a small child I had not noticed before. I began laughing, as did the couple when they realized that I thought I was being spoken to.
I hate when people talk through movies. Even at home, I do not find this acceptable. Before the movies start, however, it's fair game. My friend and I sat there chatting happily away, eating popcorn and waiting for the movie. All of a sudden, the man with the woman yells "Shut it! Now!" Yep. You guessed it. I fell for it again, immediately shut up, grabbed for the popcorn, and looked his way only to begin laughing again. Sadly, the popcorn didn't make it through the whole movie in my butterfinger hands...
