The Newport Greyhounds were tripped up by Cedar Ridge 51-39 in the first round of the annual NEA Tournament over the Christmas Holiday.

"We spent too much time just walking the ball up the floor," Coach McCrary said. "We need to play to our strength, which is our speed." Marcus Neal and Kristen Crite led the Hounds in scoring with 14 each, with Asante Shell tossing in 6. Lorenzo Ollison rounded out the scoring with 5. Newport will be back in action Friday night when they host Lonoke in conference play before traveling to Heber Springs Tuesady for another conference showdown. The jr. high teams will tip off at 5 p.m. each night with senior girls and senior boys action to follow.
