Tina Fey is in talks to star in the upcoming sequel to The Muppets, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 30 Rock star is "in late-stage negotiations" to play the film's female lead, a Russian gulag prison guard, sources tell the site. She would join Ty Burrell and her Invention of Lying co-star Ricky Gervais in the Disney production.

James Bobin, who directed the 2011 Muppets film starring Jason Segel, will direct the sequel and co-wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller. Segel, however, will not return. Shooting is scheduled to take place this month in London.

Fey is also co-hosting Sunday's Golden Globe Awards with Amy Poehler.
