Arkansas State University-Newport and will host a free running/walking clinic for ladies beginning March 5. The clinic will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the ASU-Newport/Medallion walking track on the ASUN campus and is a part of the Women Run Arkansas Walking/Running Club’s 16th annual “Women Can Run” clinics.

The 10-week clinic will help train ladies for the graduation event, a 5K run/walk to be held May 11 in Conway. The training clinic is for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced runners. There is no cost involved for the clinics, however, there is a $20 fee for the graduation event. The $20 fee includes entry into the 5K, a t-shirt and other goodies and a portion of every entry fee is donated to a charitable organization of the club’s choice. All clinic leaders and directors volunteer their time for the 10-week training period. Ladies are encouraged to join the fun with others training to run and walk. You will make new friends and possibly meet someone to walk and run with on a continual basis, even after the training period and 5K. This is an excellent opportunity to do something for yourself and begin a lifestyle that will benefit you for the rest of your life. To pre-register for the clinic, log on to the Women Run Arkansas website at or register at the first clinic session.
