Newport Police have arrested 22-year-olds James Trevor Turner, Newport and Anthony Carlton Buckelew, Little Rock in connection with a Sunday robbery at Lockwood Park.

According to Lt. Patrick Weatherford, Newport Police Department, two victims said they were at Lockwood Park when they were approached by Turner and Buckelew. One of the victims claim that Turner grabbed his wallet, which contained $380, and during this Buckelew busted the driver's side rear window and held a knife to their neck . Turner and Buckelew then fled in their car and were spotted nearly immediately by NPD Patrolman Kyle Whisenhunt. Police say Whisenhunt was in the area of Second St. when he noticed a white Honda car speeding down Hwy. 69. Whisenhunt caught up with the car and began a traffic stop. While speaking with the occupants of the car, Turner and Buckelew, a 911 call came over regarding the robbery at the park. The pair were taken into custody and later identified by the victims. During a search police found $380 and a sheath for a fixed blade knife along the path Turner and Buckelew fled through. The two were transported to the Jackson County Detention Center and are expected to be charged with Aggravated Robbery.
