Crowley's Ridge Development Council, Inc. (CRDC) began the Winter Crisis Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program on Feb. 25, 2013. In order to apply for this assistance, you must have a shut off notice.
This program can assist with past due portions of electric, gas or propane bills. In the event that your bill includes charges other than your heating costs, you will be required to pay those charges prior to receiving assistance. Please allow 48 hours to process the crisis application once all required information is received. All payments are send directly to the vendor. They will continue to process regular utility assistance applications through March 31, or until funds are depleted. Regular assistance with regular gas, electric or propane bills. It does not assist with shut off notices. Please allow 35 days to process regular utility assistance applications. The following is a list of documents needed to apply: previous month's income for everyone in the home 18 years or older (i.e., check stubs, SSI, SSA, child support, unemployment, TEA, utility assistant check from HUD, etc.), regular bill. They cannot make copies of those documents so please bring your own. Applications will be accepted on the following days at these times: Jackson County - Mondays and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2000 McLain Street, Suite C, Newport AR.
