Mary Lou Beard Jordan, 75, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away Feb. 3, 2013.
She was born Jan. 6, 1938 in Newport, the daughter of Wayne Beard, Sr. and Naomi Gardner Beard. Mary Lou graduated from Newport High School in 1955. She later attended Arkansas State University. She then moved to Dallas, Texas to become a stewardess for Braniff International Airways - a job she truly loved. She later met Donald Jack Jordan and they were married in 1965, and they had two children. After a number of years in Dallas, she moved to Mount Vernon, Texas, where she enjoyed her time living on Lake Cypress Springs. But despite the good years in Texas, Newport was always home. She cherished the friends and the memories she created there. At the time of her passing, she was living in the Dallas Area near her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her final years with her family, working her puzzles, crafting and drinking Coca-Cola. She is survived by two children, Matthew (Kristy) Jordan of Flower Mound, Texas and Jennifer Jordan of Irving, Texas; two grandchildren, Jack and Tess Jordan; two brothers, Wayne Beard, Jr. of Newport and Gus Beard of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jack Jordan; her father, Wayne Beard, Sr; her mother, Naomi Gardner Beard; and two sisters, Margaret Ann Beard and Jeannie Beard Hunt. A memorial will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Newport.
