Eighteen students from Arkansas State University-Newport’s Marked Tree campus competed in the Arkansas SkillsUSA competition April 8-10 in Hot Springs. Twelve of the 18 students won medals in the competition, including first-place winners Robert Barker of Lake City (Computer Maintenance Technology), Therman Welch of Jonesboro (Internetworking), Rachel Clements of Marion (Cosmetology), and Amber Steward and Brigitte Schwartz both of Jonesboro (Esthetics Team).
ASU-Newport’s first place winners will now advance to the National SkillsUSA competition, which will be held in June in Kansas City.
