The Jackson County Quorum Court is expected to appoint a new circuit clerk Thursday at their annual meeting in the Jackson County court room at 6 p.m.

The office is vacant after former clerk Lisa Turner plead guilty to misdemeanor theft and resigned from office.
The court is expected to first entertain a resolution declaring a vacancy in the office of Jackson County Circuit Clerk before entering into an executive session to interview applicants and choose the new clerk.
The court will then consider resolution 2013-5 declaring the appointment of a successor to fill the vacancy in the office of Jackson County circuit clerk.
Also on the agenda for the meeting is an update on the jail and detention facility, a presentation of a plaque to the family of the late Justice Joe Kinder and they will discuss an ordinance regarding sales tax and the county road fund.
