The farmer looked at the piece of land and said, “Yep, I’ll buy it.” There were some hills and trees and rocks and briars. There was no electrical power and a well for water had to be drilled. The farmer knew he had the resources to turn that piece of land and make it into a desirable and profitable place. The farmer looked beyond the outward and the immediate. He bought what the land was going to be. The deal was done.
God looked at the human race and said, “Yep, I’ll buy it.” Every person has hills and trees and rocks and briars. Every person starts out powerless in spiritual darkness and thirsting for the water of true spiritual fulfillment. But the purchaser has the resources to make the land a desirable and profitable place. God looked beyond the outward and immediate. With the blood sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ, he bought the potential that lies in every person. The deal is done.
It is a godly trait to recognize, focus on, and cultivate the potential that lies in every person. God is the God of diverse uniqueness of design and beauty. It is like the Ray Stevens song, Everything is Beautiful: “Jesus loves the little children, All the little children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, They are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world. Everything is beautiful in it's own way. Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day. And everybody's beautiful in their own way. Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way. There is none so blind as he who will not see. We must not close our minds; we must let our thoughts be free. For every hour that passes by, we know the world gets a little bit older. It's time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”
God has looked at each of us and has seen the beauty he will make us to be. It is godly for us to look at each other and focus on and encourage the beauty each can be. We each can look to, believe on, and yield to him, and allow him to develop the land he has purchased. By the blood of his dear Son, God’s deal for our beauty is done.
