Angels came and took Deward Barnes Jr., 58, to his heavenly home on Aug. 8, 2013.
He was born to Deward Barnes and Margarite Hooker Barnes on Jan. 20, 1955 at Little Rock.
Preceeding him to new life are Deward Barnes, Estel Sisco, Samuel Aiden and Jagger Barnes.
Left behind are his mother, Margarite; three brothers, Walter (Jean), Jeff (Tina) and Robert Barnes; his wife of 41 years, Kathy; and their children, Marshall, Leah (Terry) and Jason (Tonya) Barnes; also Sassy Doodles; sister-in-law, Kelly Wilson and son, Dylan; grandchildren, Braeden Beliew, Olivia Barnes, Dylan Barnes, Shelby Wilson and Hunter Bisswanger; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He worked as night stock manager at Kroger for 18 years and Lennox for many years. Then onto what he loved, meat market manager at Fresh Apple and Piggly Wiggly.
He was also an alderman for the Humphrey City Council for some years.
He served as deacon in his church for some years.
Many are suffering a great loss, but rejoicing that he has run his race with a reputation for gentleness, goodness and kindness.
Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Bayou Meto Assembly of God Church in Alcorn. Internment will follow at Williams Cemetery.
