A Stuttgart man is facing public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges after being found standing in middle of a street wearing nothing but a T-shirt.
Stuttgart Police Department Ptl. William Basore was dispatched the 19th Street area Sunday at approximately 8:44 p.m. after a caller advised SPD that a possibly intoxicated man was driving in the area. Basore parked near the intersection of Timber and 19th streets and witnessed a driver and vehicle matching the description.
"I observed the vehicle making a left on Rose Street going south bound, as I pulled on Rose Street I saw a white male standing in the roadway in a residential neighborhood with just a T-shirt on," Basore wrote in his incident report released Monday.
Basore initiated a traffic stop and identified the man and explained why he had stopped him.
"I asked why he was standing in the road with no clothes on, he stated he had s*** himself," Basore said.
He asked the 24-year-old Stuttgart man to dress himself and step out of the vehicle. The officer then noticed the man smelled of alcohol and found an opened and unopened container of alcohol in the vehicle. The passenger told the officer that she had not been drinking.
The man was then placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and public intoxication, both misdemeanor charges.
