St. Michael's Place in Newport, is proud to announce they will be co-sponsor of The Tuckerman Senior Citizens Center. Ashley Thomley, administrator of St. Michael's Place, presented Mrs. Betty Sapp, of the Tuckerman Senior Citizens Center, with a donation that will be used to pay for meals and activities.
The ten volunteers at the center prepare and provide meals for over fifty individuals on a daily basis. "This is done through generous donations from businesses and individuals in our community as we do not receive any funding from local, state or federal government," stated Sapp. The Tuckerman Center also has a group of ladies named the Happy Quilters that craft homemade quilts and donate them to local nursing home residents, veterans and victims of house fires. This is also done through donations of fabrics and those very special ladies that volunteer their time. "We at St. Michaels would like to take the time to thank all the volunteers and to challenge other businesses and individuals in our community to give generously to this worthy cause by contacting Mrs. Betty Sapp at 870-349-28909," said Thomley.
