Arkansas State University-Newport is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Steven Furst to the position of Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
Furst has held positions of progressive responsibility within the information technology field over the past 12 years, spanning multiple platforms and areas of focus. He most recently worked in the health insurance industry for a nationally recognized insurer as an Enterprise Architect responsible for standardizing development designs, directing long-term strategy and ensuring data integrity within the enterprise data warehouse. The Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness provides leadership and coordination for the generation, analysis, and dissemination of administrative and academic data for use in planning, policy formulation, decision-making, and budgeting. The position is also responsible for monitoring the University’s progress toward achieving annual and multi-year operational goals, assists with other strategic planning processes and supports institutional and program accreditation. Furst earned an Associate of Arts degree from Arkansas State University-Newport and a Bachelor of Science in MIS Data/Telecommunications from Arkansas State University, and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Arkansas State University. “I look forward to serving Arkansas State University Newport and the community in this position,” said Furst.
