  • ASUN/IMRAC Children’s Series to Host Magic Show, Costume Party

  • The Arkansas State University-Newport/Iron Mountain Regional Arts Council Children’s Series will get underway Tuesday Oct. 29 when magician Rocky Clements brings his “Show of Wonders” to the ASUN Center for the Arts in a 6 p.m. performance.

  • Admission to the show is free, and children up to age 12 are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes. Children will take part in a parade of costumes at the front of the stage prior to the performance, and treats will be distributed at the conclusion of the event. Also on the Children’s Series calendar for the 2013-14 school year are Breakfast with Mrs. Santa Claus and an April 12 performance of “Three Billy Goats Gruff” by Bits ‘N Pieces Puppet Theatre. Local children will be treated to Breakfast with Mrs. Santa Claus when the Children’s Series continues Dec. 7. Children will enjoy scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, French toast sticks, and milk or juice while Mrs. Claus visits with them about being good and eating all their breakfast. Event is open to the first 100 children registered (registration begins November 4). Please, children age 4-8 only. Breakfast begins at 9:00 a.m. Bits ‘N Pieces will bring the classic fairy tale “Three Billy Goats Gruff” to the ASUN Center for the Arts in a special springtime performance. Set in a Scandinavian mountain pass, Bluff, Fluff and Tuff Gruff, the three goats, must try to sneak across a bridge, guarded by a troll living underneath. All Children’s Series events are free and open to the public. All performances are held in the ASUN Center for the Arts, with the exception of Breakfast with Mrs. Claus, which is held in the Larry N. Williams Student/Community Center.
