According to Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce, Capital Murder charges were filed Tuesday in the case of State of Arkansas v. Christopher D. Lee and State of Arkansas v. Garrett Allen Chablis.

The charges stem from an incident which occurred August 17, 2013 in Jackson County wherein both defendants are alleged to have robbed and murdered Harold Lee Hagar, 66, of Newport. Hagar’s body was found along county road Jackson 42 on August 20, 2013. Capital Murder carries the possible sentence of death or life without parole. Boyce says that they have yet to decide rather or not to ask for the death sentence. They are expected to appear in court November 18.
