The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Jonesboro man who died while in their custody.

According to Sheriff David Lucas, at around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, October 27, Anthony Maurice Reeves, 37, Jonesboro, was discovered suffering from cardiac arrest. At that time, police say, the Detention Center personnel began CPR and notified the Newport Ambulance Service. Reeves was transported to the Harris Hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead. Reeves had been extradited from Craighead County at around 10 a.m. that day and booked on an outstanding Jackson County warrant for failure to comply with a court order. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. The case remains under investigation at this time.
