The Jackson County Learning Center will be hosting a Bingo Fundraiser on Thursday evening, November 14th at 6pm at the Newport Country Club.

The event will include dinner, silent and live auction and bingo. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Merchants and Planters Bank, Purdy's Flowers and Gifts, Newport Chamber of Commerce, and Old Treasures and More Treasures thrift stores. Modern Woodmen will provide a 100% matching gift of up to $2500 raised. Many local businesses have donated to the auction. Just a few of the live auction items include: ladies mink coat, 1978 Kawasaki motorcycle, various pieces of artwork by artists Natalie Hohn and the clients of the Learning Center. A 50" LCD TV will also be raffled off. In 2011 the Jackson County Learning Center began an endeavor to relocate the Center to a more central location in town. Property was acquired next door to Kroger and a capital fundraising campaign began in 2012. The Learning Center needs approximately $1 million to build the new facility. They are actively seeking grants but they also need the help of the community. If you would like to get involved with the Learning Center as a volunteer, make a donation or find out how to make monthly bank draft donations, please contact Glenda Rutledge-May, Executive Director, at 870-523-8488.
