  • Enjoy your stay at Jacksonport State Park by attending a few of our scheduled activities.  Discover the many wonderfully diverse qualities of Jacksonport by bringing your family, friends and yourself to any of our programs.  The  activities listed below are free or have a fee if stated.  So visit with the park interpreters Donna and Matt to experience the park.

  • Saturday, November 9th 9:00 am - 12:00 pm - Save Your Stuff Workshop - Collections Management Facility. Are there treasures in your attic begging to be saved? Don't know how to help them? Learn how in this exciting hands-on workshop! Experience a behind-the-scenes look at how Jacksonport State Park cares for its own artifacts. Workshop fee is $25. Registration required by November 6th . Space is limited to 15 participants, please register early! Sunday, November 10th 2:30 pm - Butterfly Magnets - Jacksonport Courthouse.  Butterflies are beautiful, special creatures that have several unique behaviors that you have probably seen, but not recognized.  Learn about butterfly behaviors such as basking, patrolling, and nectaring and then you can make your own butterfly magnet to take home. Saturday, November 16th 2:30 pm - Wooden Toys - Jacksonport Courthouse.  Ball and cup, buzz saw, graces and rolling hoops are just some of the toys that were used by pioneer children.  Try your hand with these fun toys and learn about the life of a pioneer child. Sunday, November 17th 2:30 pm - Steamboats of the White River - Jacksonport Courthouse. The steamboat industry was the lifeblood of Jacksonport.  These legendary steamships transported people, cotton, and goods from around the world.  Join the park interpreter today and listen to the stories of the White River steamboats. Saturday, November 23rd 6:30 pm-9:30 pm -Holiday Gala Ball - Jacksonport Courthouse. Step back in time with live music and 19th century ballroom dancing (with instructions) in a holiday-decorated courthouse.  Ladies and gentlemen are dressed in period costumes from the 1860s and 1870s.  Refreshments served throughout the evening. Period clothing not required.  Fee: $8 per adult, $4 ages 12-7, Free ages 6 & under. Contact the park for more details. Sunday, November 24th 2:30 pm - Tunstall River Walk - Visitor Center. Join the park interpreter for a moderate nature walk on the Tunstall River White along the White River.  Learn about the natural surroundings of Jacksonport and some of the ways the river influenced the town's history. Friday, November 29th 2:30 pm - Tunstall River Walk - Visitor Center. Sunday, December 1st 2:30 pm - Shelling And Pearling - Jacksonport Courthouse.  Discover the fascinating world of White River pearling as the residents of Jacksonport experienced at the turn of the 20th century. See the equipment used by divers and learn how the shells were used. Maybe you can see the most coveted prize of all, the perfectly-shaped fresh water pearl.
