  • A tradition that began in 2008, the first Thanksgiving that was celebrated at Dew-Baby's Restaurant, has been kept as a tradition and a reminder of how much thanks everyone should spread in the community.
Dew-Baby's Restaurant, which opened in December of 2007, located at 112 E. Michigan Ave. will feed those in need and the senior citizens of Stuttgart for two hours next Thursday on Thanksgiving.
"This is a tradition for us and we love to do it," Rose Stovall, one of the nine sisters who are owners of Dew-Baby's, said.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 28, the restaurant will be open for two hours only to provide a delicious Thanksgiving meal to those in need and area senior citizens.
"We did this in the beginning from our family to your family," Stovall said. "That is what Thanksgiving is all about, family."
Dew-Baby's Restaurant was opened in honor of their mother, Gerstine Jeffery and their father George Jeffery Sr.. The sisters were all raised on a farm east of Stuttgart with their brothers and other family members.
"We were called Dew-Baby's because we would gather the crops early in the morning before we went to school," Lavern Davis, another sister, said. "That is how we got our name."
For senior citizens in Stuttgart who can't leave their homes, Dew-Baby's will deliver a Thanksgiving meal if the senior citizen or their family members will call the restaurant and provide a name and address.
The menu will consists of turkey and dressing with gravy, baked glazed ham, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, greens, dinner rolls and cornbread.
