Andrea M. Adams, 26, has pled guilty to one count of theft of property, a class B felony, after authorities say she misappropriated over $47,000 in city funds between January 1, 2010 and October 9, 2012.

As previously reported, Adams resigned from office October 9, 2012 after an audit was performed by the Arkansas Joint Legislative Auditing Committee. Audit results show Adams issued unauthorized checks to herself ($7,700); cashed, rather than deposited business franchise tax checks issued to the town ($14,489) and cashed town checks she issued to other funds ($25,704). Adams was ordered to repay the Town of Weldon $47,893, the Arkansas Division of Legislative Audit $1,600 for their investigative expenses, and a $2,500 fine to Jackson County. According to Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce, Adams paid $25,000 at the time of her plea and will pay the remainder in monthly installments of $250 per month. Adams will serve 10 years of supervised probation.
