  • ECIO offering aid to those in need of health insurance

  • The December 23 deadline to apply for health insurance is fast approaching, but the people at Every Child is Ours are doing their part to help out the local community.

  • On Monday, December 9, Every Child is Ours will have three professionals on hand to help those who need assistance filing for health insurance, through the Marketplace or filling out paper forms. "The reason we're doing this is that there is something out there that is available for our people to have insurance and Lord knows I want them to have it," said ECIO Director Jan Pashcal. "I want them to have all the help they can get." Leading the group of assistants will be J.P. Peters of Fayetteville. Peters is the owner of Peters Healthcare Consultants, which advises state officials and legislators on federal matter relating to health. She also has an extensive background in public service with specialized experience in Medicare, Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs. With Peters will be three certified health insurance official to help the members of the community navigate and sign up for some sort of coverage. Every Child is Ours will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday. They will close from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for lunch. They are located near the Tuckerman city shed at 307 Hwy. 67 N. in Tuckerman. Anyone who would like assistance getting health insurance is encouraged to stop by. "I think the truth be told, a lot of people are like me, and I have a few skills with the computer, but a lot of people are intimidated by them," said Pashcal. "What were doing is we're going to level the playing field where our people have the same chance as anyone else to get the insurance they need."
