  • The official trailer for the Netflix original documentary "Mitt" surfaced online early Wednesday morning, giving hints of the tone and direction of the anticipated film. According to Variety, the documentary will premier at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 17. Netflix, which owns the film's theatrical as well as the streaming rights, will debut the film on its streaming service at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 24, only seven days after the theatrical debut at Sundance. The documentary was directed by Greg Whiteley, a Romney family friend and documentarian who followed the candidate for six years. Scenes shown in the trailer, such as Romney attempting to iron a tux that's already on his body and an intimate depiction of the moment Romney realized he would not win the election, indicate that the film may alter many previous conceptions about the once-presidential hopeful's campaign and personality. "If Romney had released a video like this, perhaps things would've turned out differently," The Washington Post's Brian Fung wrote. "In 138 seconds, Whiteley's trailer somehow manages to make Romney more of a real person than all the stumping he did."%3Cimg%20src%3D%22http%3A//beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif%3Fcid%3D132224%26pid%3D46%22%20/%3E
