Eugene Bench, 92, of Greenwood, Nebraska, died Thursday, December 19, 2013.
Born August 13, 1921 in Edgemont, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Elmer Eugene Bench and Stacia Elizabeth Gregory Allen Bench of Woodrow, Arkansas.
Eugene worked for Lockheed Aircraft in California; Braska Boilers, and Omaha Steel in Nebraska, and was a truck driver.
Serving in the United States Army, he was a World War II veteran.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wives - Georgia and Ruth; and son – George of Wilcox, Arizona.
Survivors include brother, Utah Bench of Rose Bud, Arkansas; sister, Bertha Campbell of Johnston City, Illinois; sons – William of Decatur, Texas and Lee of Maryville, Tennessee; daughters – Linda Tarver and Virginia of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Tari Peterson of Kearns, Utah; step-children – Linda Holt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Janet Holder of Columbus, Nebraska, Ronald and Duane Baursach of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was 12-2pm Monday, December 23, at Marcy Mortuary in Ashland, Nebraska.
A military service at 2pm Monday was conducted by American Legion Post 129 at Marcy Mortuary.
Following cremation, interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water, Nebraska.
