Jacksonport State Park is conducting a Pearling Stringing Necklace Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Fresh water pearls were once part of a booming mussel industry in Arkansas. By demonstrating the skill of stringing pearls, the Park Interpreter is teaching workshop participants how to make their own freshwater pearl necklace to take home. We will also learn how freshwater pearls were discovered in Arkansas and how they were harvested from the White River. After the workshop, you can tour the courthouse. Cost is $25 per person. RSVP by Jan. 15. All materials will be provided. The program hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be held in the courthouse. The workshop is handicapped accessible.
