  • For once, we doubt anyone will be too upset by Shia LaBeouf's recent tweet. The actor announced that he was "retiring from all public life" on Friday."In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life," LaBeouf wrote. "My love goes out to those who have supported me.""#stopcreating," he added, referencing his recent plagiarism scandal and subsequent positive - and very vocal - stance on the freedom of ideas.Celebs who've survived scandalLaBeouf became the source of controversy in December when it was revealed he had plagiarized his directorial debut HowardCantour.com verbatim and nearly shot-by-shot from a 2007 comic by Daniel Clowes. He proceeded to plagiarize apologizes from celebrities, Yahoo! users and pretty much anyone whose apology he could get a hold of.On Wednesday, LaBeouf posted a cease-and-desist letter from Clowes' lawyers. "Brian, your client is seriously out of control," the letter concluded.LaBeouf then used Twitter (his favorite message of communication save for skywriting) to clarify his intentions to fans. "we used to sit in a circle around a campfire/and tell stories and share them/and change them and own them together/because they were ours," he wrote. "now our stories are owned for profit/we buy corporate property/and call it our culture/enriching others/as we deplete ourselves #original."Are you sad LaBeouf is "retiring"?
