R.A.D. (Rap Aggression Defense) is planning basic self defense class to take place Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22, at the Swifton Community Center.

Class will be from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday night and from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday with an hour lunch break. 

It is a 12 hour course that much be completed to earn a certificate. 

The class is for women only and all 16 and 17 year-old participants must have a signed permission slip to attend. 

The classes will be hosted by the Arkansas State University Police Department. 

"These classes are for all women in Swifton and the surrounding areas," said host Kathy Roberts. "Please help us get the word out." 

Class will be instructed by Cpl. Traci Simpson and Officer Gene Lane. 

Both officers are trained, certified and both work with the police department at ASU Jonesboro. 

"Please come and join us! I promise you won't regret it," exclaimed Roberts.
