Mr. Billy Balch, of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 80. He was born January 25, 1934, in Balch, the son of Theodore Roosevelt Balch and Vina May (Evins) Balch.

Mr. Balch began working as a bookkeeper at Newport Sheet Metal over 38 years ago. He was a member of the Midway Church of Christ.  Mr. Balch was devoted to his work and his church and he will be greatly missed at both Newport Sheet Metal and at the Midway Church. 

Mr. Balch was an avid fan of Arkansas Razorback football and basketball.  He greatly enjoyed every game.  Mr. Balch’s greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.  This gentle, soft-spoken man will be remembered for his genuine and kind spirit and his ability to remain forever young at heart. 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Gail (Balch) Hartin; and his parents.

Mr. Balch is survived by one daughter, Jennie Blaty and husband Richard, of Austin, Arkansas; three step-daughters, Ann Elmer and husband, Ron of Batesville, Nancy McKay and husband Pat of Fayetteville, and Lynn Nicholson and husband Sam of Newport; three sisters, Pauline Carlew of Wynne, Bonnie Hunter and husband, Roy of Wynne, and Scottie Hess and husband Charles of Amagon; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren, four nieces, and a special friend, whom he thought of as a sister, Linda Roberson.

Friends  visited at the funeral home, Saturday, April 5, from noon until 1:30 p.m.  Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Llano Robinson and Mr. Jerry Carlew officiating.  Interment followed in Balch-Johnston Cemetery. 

Those honored to be pallbearers were Robert Watson, Brad Blaty, William Thomas, Brett Nicholson, Brandon Sullins, Cody Kirchner, and Drew Goffman.  Honorary pallbearers are Present and Past Employees of Newport Sheet Metal.
