Mayor David Stewart presented an award from the Chamber of Commerce to the city’s public works employees at the Newport City Council meeting Monday night.
The plaque, for community pride, was previously presented to Stewart at last week’s 74th Annual Chamber Banquet.
Stewart graciously gave credit to his workers for their efforts in keeping the city clean.
“I almost didn’t go and pick the award up because I really didn’t think that I had a lot to do with it,” Stewart said. “I felt the thing to do was to present the award to the workers.”
