The Newport Independent was announced as the winner of a media support award during Tuesday night’s Governor’s Banquet on the final night of the 36th Annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism held in Eureka Springs.
The Media Support Award is presented each year to a distinguished individual or an organization for their support of Arkansas’s tourism industry.
“We are extremely pleased and excited to be chosen for this award,” Publisher Gina Slagley said. “Tourism is a large industry in the state, and we are happy to help when we can.”
The other two finalists for the award were Bob Moore of Cassville, MO and Jimmy Sledge of Warren.
