Brian and Alicia Ritchie, of Newark, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Michelle Abbott, to Matthew Ryan Duvall, son of Ken and Leah Duvall, of Tuckerman.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ron and Betty Abbott of Batesville, Pat Ritchie of Velvet Ridge, and the late Linda Touchstone of Newark. She is a 2008 graduate of Southside High School. Upon graduation, Abbott attended North Arkansas Community College in Harrison on a softball scholarship before transferring to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where she earned a Business Management degree with an emphasis on Human Resources. She is currently employed in the Human Resource Department at Bad Boy Mowers in Batesville.

The prospective groom is a 2011 graduate of Newport High School and attended Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge on a baseball scholarship before transferring to Arkansas State University-Newport. Duvall is a 2015 graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden and is currently employed by the Newport Police Department. He is the grandson of James and Sharon Duvall of Tuckerman and the great-grandson of the late Dr. John Dewitt and Ann Ashley of Newport.

The couple will exchange vows Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Newark City Park, the intersection of Long and West 10th Streets, with a reception to immediately follow at the park.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at The First Baptist Church of Newark, 514 West Seventh Street.
